Callum Park

A couple of days ago I visited a friend who lives in Balmain which is an Inner West suburb of Sydney. The weather was 39 degrees which isn’t normal for this time of the year. We stayed in-doors for most of the day. Later in the early evening when it started to cool down, she took me to this beautiful park which I knew about as I drive past it so many times but I never knew how big it was and the history behind it. The park is Callum Park which is situated over sixty hectares. It has exceptional heritage buildings and was originally called Callan Park Hospital for the Insane.

When I lived in Leichhardt I remembered seeing signs placed around the streets saying, “Hands Of Callum Park”. Now, that I have visited this beautiful location I can see why. So, I investigated it and the NSW Government released the Exposure Bill and are proposing changes to the way Callan Park is managed.

Well, I am glad that I got to visit Callum Park before they start making changes. It is such a beautiful spot to visit.
